A well-established and highly respected North West accountancy practice is looking to appoint an Outsourcing Assistant Manager to join its growing Liverpool team.
You'll support a varied portfolio of businesses with their day-to-day finance functions - from management accounts, VAT and month-end reporting through to budgeting, forecasting, systems implementation and process improvement. Outsourcing Assistant Manager Responsibilities:
Supporting Outsourcing Managers with the day-to-day management of a varied portfolio of clients.
Reviewing bookkeeping, VAT returns, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Seniors and Juniors.
Assisting with month-end close and the preparation and finalisation of management accounts.
Producing supporting commentary and helping clients understand the story behind their numbers.
Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cost control activities across client portfolios.
Monitoring deadlines, SLAs and compliance requirements, identifying and escalating potential issues at an early stage.
Helping to manage team workflow and capacity to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
Reviewing the work of junior team members and supporting their training and development.
Contributing to improvements in processes, standardisation and the use of automation across outsourced finance functions.
Supporting accounting system implementation, migration and optimisation projects.
Monitoring WIP, job budgets, recoverability and billing, highlighting variances and potential issues to the Outsourcing Manager.
Identifying opportunities to improve clients' financial reporting, controls and internal finance processes.
Building strong relationships with clients and becoming a trusted point of contact for their day-to-day finance requirements.
Previous experience within an accountancy practice, outsourced finance team or similar client-facing accounting environment.
Strong management accounts experience, ideally including month-end reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience reviewing bookkeeping and VAT work prepared by others.
A good understanding of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
Comfortable working with cloud accounting systems and keen to develop knowledge of automation and finance technology.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and suggest practical solutions.
Confident communicating directly with clients and explaining financial information clearly.
Previous experience reviewing or supporting more junior members of a team would be advantageous.
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified or working towards qualification would be beneficial, although relevant experience will also be considered.
