Management Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join a highly regarded international law firm. The London office plays a key role within a global network, supporting complex, high-value work across multiple jurisdictions.

This is a broad and hands-on role offering responsibility for core financial control activities, management reporting, tax coordination, and client account compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders while supporting operations across London and Europe.

As the Management Accountant, you will take ownership of general ledger accounting and month-end close activities for the London office while providing support to European entities. This position is ideally suited to a qualified accountant who enjoys a varied role and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities in this Management Accountant role

General Ledger & Month-End Close

Lead month-end close processes in line with company policies and accounting standards.

Maintain the general ledger, including journal postings, intercompany transactions and reclassifications.

Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all items are resolved promptly.

Analyse P&L and balance sheet performance, investigating variances and trends.

Support cash management processes, including bank reconciliations and payment runs.

Management Accounting & Reporting

Support budgeting and forecasting activities.

Produce cost centre reporting and partner with budget holders to resolve queries.

Deliver meaningful financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making.

European Finance Support

Coordinate tax compliance requirements with external advisers and payroll providers.

Assist with accounting activities across European offices, including journals, reconciliations and vendor support.

Support statutory accounts preparation and audit processes.

Ensure accurate intercompany accounting and cost allocations across jurisdictions.

Client Account Compliance

Support compliance with client money regulations and internal controls.

Assist with client account reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.

Help monitor and resolve residual client balances.

Support client-to-office transfers and other client account transactions.

Assist with internal and external audit requests and maintain clear process documentation.

About You

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Strong experience in general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.

Previous experience within a professional services environment is advantageous.

Excellent management accounting and financial analysis skills.

Strong reconciliation and financial control experience.

Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookups.

Comfortable working with finance systems and ERP platforms.

Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Proactive, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.
