The Role

We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Developer to take technical ownership of full-stack solutions across multiple government programmes. You'll guide teams through the entire software development lifecycle - from architecture and design through to implementation and delivery - ensuring best practices, scalability, and security throughout.

This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll balance technical delivery with mentoring and architectural direction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and deployment of full-stack applications using Java, React, JavaScript, and AWS.

Provide technical leadership and direction to development teams.

Collaborate with architects, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable solutions.

Champion best practices in agile delivery, CI/CD, testing, and cloud-native development.

Support and mentor junior and mid-level developers.

Ensure all solutions meet government and security compliance standards.

Skills & Experience

Essential

Active SC Clearance.

Strong background in Java and React development.

Proficiency with AWS and modern JavaScript frameworks.

Experience leading technical teams or projects in an agile environment.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

Previous experience working in a consultancy or client-facing environment.

Exposure to UK Government or public sector projects.

Knowledge of microservices architecture, DevOps practices, and automation tooling.
