Lead Data Scientist required by an established UK organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong data science professional who enjoys leading high-performing teams while remaining hands-on with advanced analytics, machine learning and AI. You'll play a key role in shaping the organisation's data strategy, delivering innovative analytical solutions and driving commercial value through data.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Analytics, you'll lead a team of Data Scientists and Analysts, providing both technical direction and people leadership. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to identify opportunities where data science can improve decision-making, increase efficiency and unlock new commercial insights.
This is a varied role combining leadership, stakeholder engagement and hands-on data science.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop a team of Data Scientists and Analysts.
Deliver advanced analytics, predictive modelling and machine learning solutions to solve complex business challenges.
Identify opportunities where AI and data science can create measurable business improvements.
Translate business requirements into scalable analytical solutions.
Work alongside Data Engineering and BI teams to deploy and maintain production-ready models.
Champion innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and best practices within data science and AI.
Present analytical findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders across the organisation.
Drive continuous improvement across analytical capability, governance and delivery.
About You
You'll be an experienced Lead Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist with previous leadership experience and a passion for delivering business value through data.
Python, SQL and either R or similar analytical languages.
Machine Learning, predictive modelling and statistical analysis.
Databricks or comparable cloud-based analytics platforms.
Tableau, Power BI or other data visualisation tools.
Working with cloud data platforms, data lakes and enterprise data warehouses.
Leading and developing technical teams.
Communicating complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You'll be naturally inquisitive, commercially minded and enjoy working closely with stakeholders to solve challenging business problems.
