This role will serve as Ramp's first international legal counsel in London, providing day-to-day support on product, regulatory, commercial, employment, corporate, and operational issues as Ramp builds out its European presence. They will partner closely with the U.S. Legal and Compliance teams to ensure consistency across jurisdictions while adapting Ramp's approach to local law and market practice. This is a hybrid role suited to someone comfortable moving between regulatory work and broad-based business/operational counsel in a fast-moving environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Advise on legal and regulatory matters across Ramp’s UK and EU financial technology operations, including payment services licensing, commercial, and data protection matters.
- Negotiate and draft commercial agreements supporting European operations, including bank-partner arrangements and customer-facing terms tailored to local law requirements.
- Partner with Product, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and Marketing teams to structure and launch new products, payment flows, and international-market expansions.
- Build practical, scalable legal processes, templates, training, and issue-escalation frameworks that enable the international organization to move quickly while managing legal and regulatory objectives.
- Support corporate expansion activities, including entity formation and governance, local hiring and employment matters, and coordination with external counsel across relevant jurisdictions.
- Qualified attorney authorized to practice in the UK, with substantial in-house or law-firm experience supporting regulated financial-services businesses.
- Strong working knowledge of UK and EU payments, e-money, financial-services, and technology requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to advise cross-functionally on product, commercial, corporate, employment, and operational matters in a fast-moving, international environment.
- Practical judgment and a business-oriented approach to translating complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, scalable guidance.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, stakeholder-management, and project-management skills, with comfort coordinating external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
