Interim Head of finance

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid Working) Contract Length: 6 Months Salary: £300 - £400 / Day

A well-established not-for-profit organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to provide leadership and stability during a period of change and transformation.This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior finance professional who can quickly build credibility, support strategic decision-making, and ensure the continued delivery of a high-quality finance service across the organisation. Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.

Provide strategic financial advice and support to the Executive Team and Board.

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash flow management.

Ensure robust financial controls, governance, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and manage external audit relationships.

Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and reporting.

Support organisational transformation and change initiatives where required.

Manage and develop a small finance team, providing leadership and mentoring.

About YouWe are looking for a qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with:

Significant experience operating at Head of Finance, Finance Director, or equivalent senior level.

A track record of leadership within the not-for-profit, public sector, housing, charity, or wider third sector environment.

Strong financial management, reporting, and governance expertise.

Experience leading teams through periods of change and transformation.

Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive and board level.

The ability to hit the ground running and deliver impact from day one.
