Interim Data Protection & Fraud Manager
Daily Rate: £500-£1,000 (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)
Location: Hybrid working – 3 days per week onsite
Job Type: Contract (6-Month)

We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Data Protection & Fraud Manager to join the Legal function of a leading regulated organisation. This senior specialist role involves leading and managing the organisation's Data Protection and Fraud compliance framework, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practice standards.
Lead the development, implementation, review, and ongoing enhancement of the organisation's Data Protection and Fraud compliance programme.
Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all Data Protection, Fraud, and related compliance matters.
Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, controls, and governance processes across the organisation.
Provide expert advice and guidance on data protection requirements for business projects, programmes, new products, outsourcing arrangements, and strategic initiatives.
Conduct compliance reviews, risk assessments, audits, and health checks to identify areas of risk and improvement.
Investigate compliance breaches and collaborate with key stakeholders on remediation activities.
Lead engagement with relevant regulators and external bodies, including managing complaints, investigations, and regulatory correspondence.
Oversee Subject Access Requests (SARs), disclosure requests, data incidents, and related compliance activity.
Develop and deliver data protection and fraud awareness training across the organisation.
Manage relationships with external agencies including law enforcement, government bodies, and financial institutions where fraud-related matters arise.
Line manage and support a Data Protection & Fraud Officer, ensuring effective performance, development, and delivery.
Significant experience leading Data Protection and/or Fraud compliance programmes.
Extensive knowledge of UK data protection legislation and its practical application.
A recognised Data Protection, Compliance, or Fraud-related qualification, or substantial relevant experience.
Proven experience advising senior stakeholders on compliance risks and regulatory requirements.
Experience managing regulatory investigations, complaints, and external stakeholder relationships.
Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, governance, and risk management principles.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and influencing abilities, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Experience developing and delivering compliance training and awareness programmes.
Previous people management experience is desirable.
