Interim Accountant

We are working with a leading financial services business that is looking for an experienced Interim Accountant to join their Finance team on a short-term project.

The role will primarily support a VAT project, working closely with the Finance team to review transactions, reconcile VAT, identify discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of financial information.

The business uses Xero, so strong hands-on experience with Xero is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Finance team with a VAT-focused project

Review and analyse financial transactions and VAT treatment

Work extensively within Xero to review financial information

Assist with VAT reconciliations and supporting schedules

Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues

Review historic transactions and identify areas requiring further investigation

Prepare financial analysis and supporting documentation

Work with internal stakeholders to gather relevant information

Assist with improving processes, controls and documentation

Provide general accounting support throughout the project

About You

Qualified, part-qualified or QBE Accountant

Strong hands-on Xero experience is essential

Previous VAT experience is essential

Strong general accounting background

Excellent Excel and financial analysis skills

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Comfortable working independently and managing a defined project

Able to work in a fast-paced environment and hit the ground running

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Financial services experience would be advantageous
