If you are an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with excellent communication skills we have a new role we would like to discuss with you. Please note this role requires onsite attendance in London 4 days per week.
The opportunity
Join a respected, purpose-led organisation as its senior technical expert for infrastructure, cloud, networking and workplace technology. You will combine hands-on support with technical consultancy, project delivery and forward planning.
What you’ll be doing
Manage and improve the organisation’s server, virtualisation and storage estate across Windows, Linux, VMware and Hyper-V.
Design, configure and support networks, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and VPNs.
Administer Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory/Entra ID, Windows 365 and related cloud services.
Maintain security, resilience, patching, backups, monitoring and service performance reporting.
Provide 2nd and 3rd line support, resolving complex incidents and acting as the escalation point for the wider IT team.
Lead technical input into infrastructure projects, including solution design, budgeting, procurement, risk and third-party management.
Support workplace and educational technologies, including AV/video conferencing and learning platforms, where required.
Create clear technical documentation and coach colleagues to strengthen capability across the team.
What we’re looking for
Strong, broad infrastructure experience covering servers, networking, cloud services and end-user technology.
Good knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, Microsoft 365 and Exchange.
Hands-on experience with virtualisation, storage, firewalls, switching and network troubleshooting.
A confident technical problem-solver who can manage escalations and communicate clearly with users, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
Experience contributing to technical projects, planning, risk management and purchasing decisions.
An organised, customer-focused approach, with the ability to prioritise in a varied environment and support the development of others.
Useful additional experience
Exposure to some of the following would be advantageous: VMware ESXi/vSphere, SAN storage, Fortinet or Juniper firewalls, Cisco or Extreme Networks, CrowdStrike, SharePoint, SQL Server, IIS, Apple devices, IP telephony, PaperCut, Moodle, Power Automate or Power BI.
Qualifications
Relevant infrastructure, cloud or service-management certification is preferred. A degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related subject would be advantageous but is not essential.
