Information Governance & Data Lead - Paying between £300 to £500 Per Day, Inside IR35, Based in Bristol, Hybrid Working, To Start ASAP, 3 to 6 Month Contract

Your new role
We are seeking an experienced Information Governance & Data Governance Lead to provide specialist leadership across information governance, data protection, records management and compliance within a large, complex public sector organisation.
This is a key interim role, supporting a small governance team whilst helping the organisation balance statutory obligations with a growing commercial focus. You'll provide expert advice on how information and customer data can be used effectively and responsibly to support membership growth, digital transformation and emerging technologies, including AI.
Lead information governance, records management and data governance activities across the organisation
Ensure compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act, FOI, EIR, Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Public Records requirements
Advise stakeholders on information risk, data sharing, retention, disclosure and governance best practice
Provide guidance on commercial use of data, contract negotiations, partnership agreements and information sharing arrangements
Support governance across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive environments
Chair governance forums and build strong relationships across HR, Finance, Digital and operational teams
Develop policies, frameworks and training to improve information management maturity and compliance
Provide credible advice on the governance implications of new systems, data initiatives and AI adoption
What you'll need to succeed
Significant experience in Information Governance, Data Governance, Records Management, Data Protection or Knowledge & Information Management (KIM)
Commercial awareness relating to customer data, membership data, information sharing and contractual arrangements
Strong understanding of UK GDPR, FOI, EIR, Public Records legislation and information rights
Proven experience leading governance, compliance or information management improvement programmes
Experience advising stakeholders on information risk and regulatory compliance
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
Experience supporting digital transformation, data platforms or AI-related initiatives
