Private Asset Specialist
Rate: £325.00 a day PAYE

Location: Edinburgh – Hybrid – 3 days on site
A leading Tier One Banking organisation is seeking an experienced Private Asset Specialist to provide technical accounting oversight across a diverse private assets portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accounting professional with strong investment accounting and fund administration expertise to play a key role in supporting complex fund structures, driving operational excellence, and influencing the ongoing development of the operating model.
The Role
You will provide technical accounting leadership across a broad range of private asset structures, including:
ACS funds
PAIFs
Segregated mandates
Insurance funds
SPV structures
Working independently, you will investigate and interpret complex accounting requirements across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory expectations.
You will also contribute to operating model design, supporting the onboarding of new structures, embedding robust controls, and providing ongoing oversight within BAU operations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting
Provide subject matter expertise across investment accounting requirements and fund jurisdictions.
Interpret complex accounting standards and ensure robust implementation.
Support the integration of private asset structures into operational and technology frameworks.
Ensure accounting controls and governance standards are maintained.
Client & Third-Party Management
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, auditors, and technology providers.
Act as a trusted point of contact for technical accounting matters.
Support internal and external stakeholder engagement.
Operational Risk & Controls
Review and monitor operational risks across the function.
Maintain and update procedural documentation.
Support audit activity and ensure adherence to governance requirements.
Promote best practice and continuous improvement across the business.
Market & Regulatory Awareness
Keep abreast of changes in accounting, tax, regulatory and market requirements.
Assess impacts of industry developments on current operating practices.
Recommend enhancements where appropriate.
What We're Looking For
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Strong investment accounting and fund administration experience
Experience working with private assets and complex fund structures
Strong knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Experience working directly with external clients, auditors and third-party providers
Ability to work independently and investigate complex accounting issues
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Good understanding of operational risk, controls and governance
