A well-established organisation is partnering with Robertson Bell to recruit a Head of Finance on a permanent basis. This is a broad and influential role for an experienced finance professional looking to take ownership of the finance function, provide strategic insight and lead a capable team. The role Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will take responsibility for the effective delivery and development of the finance function, balancing strong technical oversight with commercial and strategic thinking.
Lead and develop the finance team, creating a supportive, accountable and high-performing culture.
Oversee the production of accurate monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
Take ownership of the annual budgeting and year-end processes.
Provide clear financial insight and challenge to senior stakeholders, helping drive effective decision-making.
Oversee cashflow, financial controls, compliance and risk management.
Support senior leadership and Board-level stakeholders with financial reporting, analysis and recommendations.
Drive improvements to finance systems, processes and controls.
Ensure the organisation maintains strong financial governance and reporting standards.
Act as a trusted business partner across the wider organisation, translating complex financial information into clear and practical advice.
Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and strategic contribution of the finance function.

The successful candidate will inherit a technically strong finance function and will have the opportunity to shape how the team develops, strengthening both the people and wider finance service.
There is also scope for the role to take on broader responsibility over time as the finance function continues to evolve. Essential criteria
Fully qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
Significant senior finance experience, ideally at Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Head of Finance level.
Strong technical knowledge across management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and year-end reporting.
Proven experience managing, developing and motivating finance teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge senior colleagues.
Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and risk.
Able to operate strategically while remaining comfortable getting into the detail when required.
A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships across an organisation.
Experience presenting financial information to senior leadership and/or Board-level stakeholders.
