An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Geotechnical Director to join a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy based in Bath. This is a senior leadership position offering the chance to shape the strategic direction of the geotechnical division while overseeing the delivery of a wide range of ground engineering projects across the UK.

The Role

As Geotechnical Director, you will lead and develop the geotechnical team, drive business growth, and maintain strong client relationships. You will play a key role in securing new work, mentoring senior staff, and ensuring technical excellence across projects.

Responsibilities include

Leading the geotechnical department and contributing to business strategy.

Managing key client accounts and developing new business opportunities.

Providing technical oversight on geotechnical and ground engineering projects.

Supporting and mentoring engineers at all levels.

Managing project delivery, budgets, and commercial performance.

Working closely with other technical disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.

Representing the business at industry events and networking opportunities.

Requirements

Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.

Chartered status (ICE, Geological Society or equivalent).

Extensive experience within geotechnical consultancy or contracting.

Strong commercial awareness and business development experience.

Proven leadership and team management skills.

Excellent client-facing and communication abilities.

Full UK Driving Licence.
