Location: London
Full time, office-based role
A well-established, award-winning technology business in London is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team! With over 30 years of trading history, a debt-free balance sheet and a strong footprint across corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors, this is a genuinely stable business with real long-term prospects. In this senior role you'll own financial accuracy and statutory compliance, lead and develop a small finance team and provide insight that supports both day-to-day operations and strategic decision-making. There's also meaningful scope to drive process improvements within a collaborative, well-resourced environment and the package includes structured training, ongoing development, annual performance reviews and a generous pension scheme.
Prepare monthly management accounts, detailed financial reports, and accurate forecasts to support informed decision-making across the UK & Ireland business.
Ensure the integrity of the balance sheet by performing timely reconciliations and maintaining effective financial controls throughout all processes.
Analyse financial performance through comprehensive variance analysis and trend identification to highlight risks and opportunities for the business.
Identify underlying drivers of business performance while proactively supporting operational teams with insightful financial information.
Oversee year-end financial statements preparation along with supporting reconciliations to ensure statutory compliance is maintained at all times.
Manage cash flow processes diligently while upholding rigorous financial controls to safeguard organisational assets.
Lead tax compliance activities including preparing VAT returns, managing statutory reporting obligations, and coordinating the annual external audit process as the principal point of contact for auditors.
Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, key performance indicators (KPIs), corporation tax submissions, and other statutory returns in line with group requirements.
Process monthly payroll accurately while ensuring all related documentation is completed efficiently and confidentially.
Motivate, guide, and review the work of two finance team members responsible for accounts payable/receivable, general administration, and logistics; foster their professional growth through supportive leadership.
A recognised professional accountancy qualification such as ACCA or ACA is required to demonstrate your technical expertise in this field.
At least seven years' full-time post-qualification experience ensures you bring depth of knowledge to this senior finance role.
Proven track record in a Financial Accountant or similar position highlights your capability to manage complex accounting functions independently.
Experience with monthly Group reporting processes enables you to meet demanding deadlines without compromising accuracy or quality.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills combined with proficiency in modern accounting or ERP systems allow you to handle large volumes of data efficiently.
Exceptional analytical abilities paired with meticulous attention to detail ensure that all financial outputs are reliable and error-free.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills empower you to convey complex information clearly when liaising with senior management or external advisers.
Demonstrated ability to communicate confidently across various stakeholder groups-including customers-fosters trust within the organisation.
Sound interpersonal skills coupled with leadership qualities enable you to motivate team members effectively while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
Experience preparing/managing budgets alongside a strong commitment to teamwork reflects your dedication towards achieving shared goals within ethical boundaries.
This organisation stands out due to its remarkable stability being both debt-free and asset-rich after more than three decades of successful operations within the technology space. Employees benefit from working in an inclusive environment where collaboration is encouraged at every level; structured training programmes ensure ongoing professional development while annual performance reviews provide clear pathways for advancement. The company's robust internal systems mean that staff can focus on adding value rather than firefighting issues which is a testament not only to sound management but also forward-thinking investment strategies. With clients spanning corporate giants through government agencies right down into not-for-profit organisations there's ample scope for personal growth as well as exposure across diverse sectors - all underpinned by supportive leadership committed towards nurturing talent over time. Generous pension contributions further enhance overall remuneration packages making this an ideal destination if long-term security matters just as much as daily job satisfaction does.
