Client Details
A not-for-profit organisation based in Birmingham.
Description
Support the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts, journals and reconciliations.
Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities.
Maintain key balance sheet and control accounts.
Support the preparation of statutory accounts and audit requirements.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, charity regulations and internal financial controls.
Complete and review bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly.
Support cash flow monitoring and treasury activities.
Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial systems and data.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and financial reporting.
Support the ongoing development and effective use of finance systems.
Provide line management, coaching and support to direct reports.
Review work, share knowledge and help develop a high-performing finance team
Profile
Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA or equivalent).
Previous experience in a financial accounting role within a large organisation or charity.
Experience of month-end and year-end processes, journal preparation, VAT returns, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience of using and developing financial systems, processes and controls.
Experience supervising or managing finance staff.
Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Job Offer
Salary between £46,000 and £50,600, dependent on the level of experience.
Access to a pension scheme.
Fixed-term contract with a meaningful role in the not-for-profit sector.
