This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, personable business where you'll play a key role within the finance function, working closely with the Finance Director and wider business. You'll join an accounts team of five and take responsibility for two direct reports, giving you the opportunity to combine hands-on accounting with team leadership, commercial partnering and process improvement.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you'll take ownership of the monthly management accounting process and play an important role in providing accurate financial information and commercial insight to the wider business.
Producing end-to-end monthly management accounts, ensuring completion within one week of month end
Preparing and distributing associated financial reporting in a timely manner
Ensuring all balance sheet and control accounts are fully reconciled each month, including intercompany accounts
Investigating and resolving variances promptly
Working closely with departments across the business to track expenditure against budget and forecast
Business partnering with operational managers to understand financial trends and support effective cost control
Providing meaningful financial insight to support business decisions, development and profitability
Supporting the development and automation of regular reporting
Producing and monitoring KPI reporting
Supporting group reporting requirements for the parent company
Managing and developing two direct reports
Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting
About You
We're looking for an experienced Management Accountant or Finance Manager who is comfortable working in an SME environment and has experience supervising or managing a small team.
You'll ideally have experience within a manufacturing, product-based or supplier environment, although this isn't essential.
Strong management accounting experience
Previous experience supervising or managing a small finance team
Excellent attention to detail
Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Good Microsoft Office/Excel skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A collaborative, team-focused approach
A positive, hands-on "can do" attitude
The confidence to work with stakeholders across the wider business
A commercially minded approach to finance
