Harper May is partnering with a single-family office based in the City of London, managing a substantial multi-asset portfolio on behalf of its principal and their family. The business has evolved from a private investment vehicle into a full-service family office, overseeing investment activity across private equity, venture capital, credit and alternatives, alongside property, hospitality and a broader base of physical assets. With assets under management approaching $500m to $1bn and a complex structure spanning multiple international jurisdictions, the finance function has grown in complexity to the point where a dedicated hire is now needed. The Head of Finance and Operations is now appointing a Finance Manager to take ownership of internal reporting, with a clear path to step up into a Financial Controller seat as the individual grows into the role.
The Role Reporting to the Head of Finance and Operations and working as part of a small in-house team, the Finance Manager will take initial ownership of the reporting for the property and property holding companies, and will grow their remit across the wider portfolio over time. The role suits a fully-qualified accountant looking for a broad, hands-on family office remit with genuine intellectual variety and a clear path to Controller-level responsibility. It is a mature, well-structured environment with reasonable hours and a lean team where accountability sits close to the numbers.
Key Responsibilities
Own the internal reporting for the property and property holding entities
Support the wider group reporting across investment holdings, family assets and operating entities
Prepare and review month-end management accounts across a complex multi-entity structure
Manage the relationships with outsourced bookkeeping and administrative providers
Support consolidated reporting and cash management across multiple jurisdictions
Partner with the Head of Finance and Operations on financial planning, controls, and process improvement
Contribute to the ongoing build-out of the finance function as the group continues to grow
What we are looking for
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or foreign equivalent)
Strong technical accounting foundation with experience in a multi-entity or international environment
Prior experience in a family office, investment firm, property, or professional services background is preferred
Comfortable working in a small team with real ownership from day one
Ambitious to step up into a Financial Controller seat as the role and portfolio evolve
Clear communicator, hands-on, and organised across multiple concurrent workstreams
