Finance Manager
£40,000 – £45,000 | Heywood
Are you an experienced Finance Manager who enjoys being hands-on and having real ownership of the finance function?
We’re working with a rapidly growing e-commerce business in Heywood to recruit a standalone Finance Manager to manage the full finance operation and support the business as it continues to scale.
This is a hands-on role, working closely with the directors, external suppliers, accountants and finance contacts within the company’s investment partner.
The role
Managing purchase and sales ledger, invoicing, payments, banking and reconciliations.
Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reporting, budgets and forecasts.
Managing cash flow, credit control, supplier payments and financial controls.
Overseeing VAT, HMRC, payroll, pensions and year-end processes, working with external accountants where required.
Reconciling e-commerce sales, payment platforms, refunds and fees, alongside stock and inventory accounting.
Providing financial insight and analysis to support commercial decisions.
Liaising with external finance providers, suppliers, accountants and the investment partner’s finance team.
Improving processes and systems to make the finance function more efficient and scalable.
Exploring AI, automation and other technology to reduce manual administration and streamline routine tasks.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced Finance Manager who is comfortable working independently and getting involved in the detail.
Proven Finance Manager or similar-level experience, ideally in a standalone role.
Strong hands-on finance experience across both transactional and management accounting.
Good working knowledge of Sage.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Confidence dealing with external stakeholders and senior contacts.
A proactive approach to improving processes and finding more efficient ways of working.
Ideally, an interest in AI and automation and how technology can improve everyday finance processes.
The ability to thrive in a small, busy and fast-paced office environment, where everyone gets involved.
The opportunity
The business is growing quickly, so this role offers plenty of scope to develop. Over the next 12–18 months, there is potential to build a small finance team of up to 1–2 people, giving you the opportunity to shape the function as the business grows.
If you’re an experienced Finance Manager looking for a role where you can take ownership, improve processes and play an important part in a growing business, we’d be keen to hear from you.
