Senior Accountant

The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of a broad range of client work, from statutory accounts and tax compliance through to management information and more specialist projects. You will work closely with managers, clients and junior colleagues, building the experience needed to progress your career. The role offers excellent exposure within the accountancy sector, including the opportunity to support work across areas such as due diligence, valuations and other ad-hoc advisory projects. What you'll be doing
Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies and a range of owner-managed businesses
Producing consolidated accounts for small and medium-sized groups
Preparing corporation tax returns and supporting clients with tax compliance
Reviewing straightforward VAT returns
Producing management accounts and financial information
Building strong relationships with clients and responding to queries professionally
Supporting and developing less experienced members of the team
Working closely with managers and assisting with wider client projects
Responding to external auditor queries and supporting the audit process
Organising your own workload, schedules and priorities to meet deadlines
Getting involved in additional work including valuations, due diligence and specialist projects
What we're looking for
At least two years' experience working within an accountancy practice
ACA, ACCA or an equivalent professional qualification, either qualified or actively studying
Strong experience preparing statutory accounts and corporation tax returns
Good working knowledge of Xero and confidence using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with clients
A proactive and self-motivated approach to managing your workload
Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability and a commitment to producing accurate work
The ability to remain organised and focused when managing competing deadlines
A genuine interest in developing your technical knowledge and progressing your career
Experience with IRIS, Alpha, QuickBooks or Sage 50 would also be advantageous, as would a strong awareness of how technology can support modern accountancy services. What's on offer
£32,000-£39,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualification level
