Outsource UK are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation for a Team Manager to join their growing team in Clevedon. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineering leader to take ownership of a talented team, driving engineering excellence across the product lifecycle. You'll play a key role in leading sustaining engineering activities, ensuring products remain safe, reliable, compliant, and fit for purpose while supporting continuous improvement and operational success.
The Role Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will lead, motivate and develop a team of approximately six electrical engineers, providing both people leadership and technical guidance. You will be responsible for delivering engineering support across existing product portfolios, from issue investigation and root cause analysis through to design changes, validation and release. Working closely with manufacturing, quality, service, supply chain, project management and customer-facing teams, you'll ensure robust product performance, controlled change management and the successful delivery of engineering solutions.
Lead, coach and develop a team of electrical engineers through clear objectives, regular one-to-ones, mentoring and development planning.
Build engineering capability across the team, supporting professional development and career progression.
Drive adoption of electrical engineering best practices to improve delivery, quality, compliance and reliability.
Ensure effective technical governance is maintained across sustaining engineering activities.
Coordinate and allocate work packages across multiple cross-functional teams, ensuring successful delivery against project milestones.
Own technical governance for sustaining product changes, ensuring robust design reviews, approvals and configuration control processes are followed.
Lead electrical problem-solving activities, including root cause investigations, failure analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and reliability improvements.
Ensure validation and verification activities are appropriately planned and executed, with clear acceptance criteria and traceability.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet technical, commercial and operational requirements.
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
Significant experience applying best-practice electrical engineering principles within a product design and development environment.
Proven line management experience, including performance management, coaching and development of engineering teams.
Experience creating and managing personal development plans, mentoring engineers and supporting career progression.
Strong project coordination and team leadership experience.
Ability to balance technical authority with people leadership, ensuring delivery, compliance, quality and team wellbeing.
Excellent understanding of engineering best practice, governance and product lifecycle support.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide concise updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
