Electrical Design Engineer

Electrical Design Engineer Location: West Yorkshire 6 month contract

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a well-established and growing engineering business to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer on a freelance contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist manufacturer delivering bespoke engineered solutions across a diverse range of industries.

The role will play a key part in the design and development of electrical control systems, with a strong focus on control panel design. You’ll be working within a collaborative engineering team, supporting projects from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop electrical control panels in line with customer specifications and industry standards

Produce detailed electrical schematics using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar)

Interpret technical specifications and translate them into practical design solutions

Support the build, testing, and commissioning phases where required

Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure project delivery

Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and quality standards

Key Skills & Experience

Proven experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on control panel design

Skilled user of AutoCAD Electrical

Ability to produce accurate electrical drawings and documentation

Good understanding of electrical systems, components, and standards

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Desirable

Experience with PLC programming (advantageous but not essential)

Knowledge of industrial automation systems
