Your new company

The Digital Content Manager will lead the planning, creation and governance of high-quality digital content across channels, including the website and associated digital platforms.

The post holder will ensure content is engaging, accessible, on-brand and data-driven, supporting reputation, visibility, staff engagement and the wider strategy.

This role will work closely with academic and professional services colleagues, providing expert advice on digital content best practice and ensuring a consistent, user focused experience for staff and partner audiences.

Due to the nature of this role, you must be based in the central belt area to apply.

Your new role

Your new role will include but not limited to

Lead the development and delivery of the digital content across core channels, primarily the corporate website and key campaign microsites.

Translate institutional priorities into clear, compelling and user focused digital content.

Act as the subject matter expert on content best practice, including tone of voice, SEO, accessibility and usability.

Own and manage website content within the CMS, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with accessibility and governance standards.

Optimise content journeys to improve engagement, conversion and user experience for priority audiences.

Work closely with digital, IT and external suppliers to support website enhancements, upgrades and continuous improvement.

Develop and manage content plans, calendars and workflows to support recruitment cycles, campaigns, research promotion and corporate communications.

Establish and uphold digital content standards, guidelines and approval processes.

Provide coaching and guidance to devolved content contributors across the business.

Monitor and evaluate digital content performance using analytics and insight tools (e.g. Google Analytics).

Use data and user insight to inform decisions, prioritise improvements and demonstrate impact.

Report regularly on content performance, trends and recommendations.

Partner with academic schools, professional services and marketing colleagues to gather requirements and commission content.

Build strong working relationships.

Commission and manage external suppliers where required.

What you'll need to succeed

Significant experience managing digital content within a complex organisation, ideally within higher education or the public sector.

Strong editorial skills with the ability to write, edit and commission clear, engaging and accessible content.

Proven experience of managing content within a CMS and working to structured governance processes.

Demonstrable understanding of UX, accessibility (WCAG), SEO and content best practice.

Experience using analytics tools to monitor performance and inform improvements.

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels.
