Senior Technical Specialist - Cyber Underwriting & AI Risk Leeds or London | Hybrid Working | 23-Month FTC Your new company A leading UK regulatory organisation is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist to join its specialist insurance risk function. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future approach to cyber insurance, cyber underwriting risk, AI-related insurance risk and emerging threats across the UK insurance market. Working alongside experienced technical specialists, you will play a key role in assessing how insurers identify, manage and aggregate cyber exposures and other complex risks. Your new role This is a highly visible position focused on cyber underwriting risk, exposure management and reinsurance. You will provide subject matter expertise on how insurers manage cyber insurance portfolios, cyber accumulation risk and catastrophe exposures, while contributing to broader work across emerging risks, including the impact of AI on insurance underwriting and business models. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders to review risk frameworks, exposure data, aggregation controls and management information, helping to develop industry-wide views on cyber underwriting and insurance risk. The role also involves contributing to thematic reviews, horizon scanning activities and technical projects relating to cyber insurance, catastrophe risk and exposure management. This role does not have direct line management responsibilities but does require the ability to influence, collaborate with and provide technical leadership to colleagues and specialists across the wider function. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will bring significant experience from within the insurance market, with expertise in areas such as cyber underwriting, cyber insurance, cyber exposure management, accumulation risk, aggregation risk, catastrophe risk, reinsurance or broader insurance risk management. You will have a strong technical understanding of cyber underwriting risk and how insurers identify, quantify and manage complex exposures. Experience assessing insurance portfolios, exposure management frameworks, accumulation risk and reinsurance structures would be highly beneficial, as would knowledge of catastrophe risk and emerging technology risks. Applications are welcomed from candidates currently working within insurers, reinsurers, brokers, reinsurance brokers or MGAs. Experience gained within cyber insurance, portfolio management, exposure management or risk management functions will be particularly relevant. You will be a strong communicator, capable of analysing complex technical issues and presenting clear insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The successful candidate will be comfortable influencing others without direct management responsibility and will demonstrate the ability to contribute to technical, strategic and market-wide initiatives. An understanding of emerging risks, including AI-related insurance risk, cyber accumulation risk and evolving market practices, would be advantageous. Candidates with a genuine interest in the future of cyber insurance and the wider insurance market are encouraged to apply. You will ideally demonstrate:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
The ability to communicate complex technical issues to a variety of audiences.
Experience influencing stakeholders and contributing to technical or strategic initiatives.
An interest in emerging risks, particularly the impact of AI and evolving cyber threats on the insurance industry.
