Cyber Security Analyst
Job Type: Contract
Location: Hybrid / South West
Daily rate: Market rates
We are seeking a dedicated Cyber Security Analyst to protect our client's information, systems, and infrastructure. This role involves researching, supporting, and configuring security tools to analyse risks and ensure that security processes are adhered to and implemented effectively. The Cyber Security Analyst will report directly to the Security and Networking Manager.
Maintain and optimise operational security processes, ensuring all support requests are handled according to established protocols, including those for cloud-based and automated systems.
Manage vulnerability assessment tools, identify and classify security vulnerabilities in networks, systems, and applications, and mitigate their impact by producing reports and collaborating with the IT team.
Utilise various security tools to investigate incidents, identify trends, and assess threats.
Employ IT Service Management tools to classify cyber-related incidents and use data analysis tools to analyse trends and present management information reports.
Collaborate with third-party managed services providers to monitor security posture, including integrating additional security monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities.
Use threat intelligence from various sources to identify emerging threats and act as a security escalation point within the team to provide advice, guidance, or conduct in-depth investigations.
Recommend improvements to the security posture and participate in projects and external cyber audits as required, including compliance requirements.
Manage security-related investigations, providing detailed analysis and remediation recommendations either via presentations or technical reports.
Perform network traffic analysis using packet captures, firewall, and IPS logs, and outputs from other tools.
Organised individual with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload under pressure, especially when addressing threats and incidents.
Experience working within a process-driven environment and following defined project methodologies.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of dealing with colleagues at all levels within IT, the wider business, and suppliers.
A critical eye for detail and a commitment to high standards of work.
Flexible approach to team working, covering duties of other team members as needed.
Commitment to continuous professional development in line with IT strategy and business direction.
Strong ability to quickly learn new processes and technologies, and adapt to changes in sequences and timelines.
