This will focus predominantly on Contentious matters both in formal disputes and project advisory stages - including acting for Developers, Lenders, Contractors, Consultants and Public Sector Bodies.

The work of the group is hugely varied, with expertise across a broad spectrum of issues including defects claims, complex extension of time, and final account disputes and on contracts including SBCC, JCT, NEC, and FIDIC. Clients include major energy companies, developers, contractors and funders.

Much of the work is generated from within the construction group itself with the team additionally providing Real Estate, Banking and PFI/Projects support. Projects and advice cover the whole range of construction, engineering and procurement issues across both public and private sectors.

The wider AG Construction Group has more than 140 specialist lawyers globally and is particularly active in infrastructure, energy, transport, utilities, real estate and PPP/PFI disputes.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE

As a senior lawyer in our market-leading construction team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the continued growth of our mandates, taking a lead in pitching for high-value, complex work and managing key client relationships.

You will advise on construction, engineering, infrastructure, and energy disputes, including those arising from defects, delays (e.g. extension of time), and final account issues.

Handling disputes under a range of standard form contracts, such as SBCC, JCT, NEC, and FIDIC.

Acting for a diverse client base including energy companies, developers, contractors, funders, property developers, and infrastructure companies (including those in the renewables and energy-from-waste sectors).

Managing large-scale adjudications, court actions, and alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation, arbitration, expert determination, and informal negotiation.

Advising on and resolving real estate and PFI/NPD (Private Finance Initiative/Non-Profit Distributing) project disputes.

You will be a key client contact for some of the Group's and firm's most significant clients, taking responsibility for relationship management, client retention, and identifying opportunities for further collaboration.

Team Training: Supporting and mentoring more junior team members, sharing knowledge and initiating positive change and helping others to develop to the best that they can be. Sharing your network with others and using your relationships to build business opportunities for the team and firm.

Business Development: Support and initiate activities to win new business and clients for the team and firm, representing the firm confidently in pitches and external presentations. You will build strong rapport with clients to foster relationships based on trust.

Continuous self-development is highly valued. You will be encouraged to participate in formal training programmes (whether technical or skills-based) and to take advantage of mentoring, coaching, and leadership development opportunities available to you.
