Commercial Accountant Manchester | Hybrid Working

£40,000 + £7,500 Car Allowance + Study Support

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Commercial Accountant to join the commercial finance team of a large and successful UK organisation.

This is a highly visible, business-facing role where you will work closely with operational and sales leaders across a network of regional sites. You will help managers understand their financial performance, identify opportunities to improve margins and provide the commercial insight needed to make better decisions.

This position would particularly suit an AAT-qualified accountant or someone in the earlier stages of CIMA or ACCA who has gained solid practical finance experience and is ready to develop into a rounded commercial finance professional. The role You will:

Produce accurate period-end accounts, analysis and supporting commentary.

Work closely with operational and sales managers to review financial performance.

Prepare budgets, forecasts and regular performance reports.

Analyse sales, costs, margins, overheads and profitability.

Identify risks, trends and opportunities to improve business performance.

Provide constructive challenge and turn financial information into practical recommendations.

Support the financial evaluation of customer tenders and commercial proposals.

Review customer rebates against agreed contractual terms.

Develop strong relationships with colleagues across finance and operations.

Help improve reporting processes, controls and the quality of management information.

The person We are looking for someone who is:

AAT qualified or in the early stages of studying CIMA or ACCA.

Experienced in management accounting, commercial analysis or operational finance.

Commercially curious and interested in how the wider business operates.

Confident communicating with operational and non-finance stakeholders.

Comfortable attending meetings, presenting findings and constructively challenging decisions.

Able to explain financial information clearly and without unnecessary jargon.

Proactive, personable and keen to take ownership.

Strong in Excel, with Power BI experience beneficial but not essential.

Comfortable working in a fast-moving, multi-site environment.

In possession of a full UK driving licence.

Candidates with experience outside a traditional finance environment—such as operations, branch management, sales or another customer-facing commercial role—are particularly encouraged to apply. What’s on offer
