Client Manager / Accountant

Overview

A growing independent accountancy practice in the North West is seeking a commercially minded Client Manager / Accountant to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while contributing to the continued growth and success of the firm.

The role offers strong progression prospects, exposure to a broad SME client base, and the opportunity to play a key role in client relationships and advisory work.

Key Responsibilities

Managing a portfolio of SME, owner-managed business, and limited company clients across a range of sectors

Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP (FRS 102/105)

Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing guidance and mentorship

Preparing and/or reviewing management accounts and providing actionable insights to clients

Overseeing VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and general compliance work

Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building strong and lasting relationships

Providing commercial advice to clients, supporting business growth and decision-making

Assisting with workflow management, deadlines, and overall portfolio performance

Requirements

Proven experience within an accountancy practice environment

Strong accounts preparation and review experience

Confident managing client relationships and delivering high-quality service

Good commercial awareness and ability to provide value-added advice

Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff (desirable)

Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar

Qualifications

AAT, ACCA or ACA qualified or qualified by experience
