World Class Defence Organisation based in Bristol is currently looking to recruit a C++ Software Engineer (with QT) subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract, with very likely extension. The role will be onsite 4 days per week. A 4 day working week is OK (Monday to Thursday).

Our team, at our Bristol facility, develop solutions for the next generation of Air Defence Systems; developing evolving products whilst maintaining our enviable reputation for safety, performance and dependability.
Responsibilities: To produce a software Console product, replacing an existing version with better software architecture making the product more maintainable and verifiable going forward. This is not an up-date, but a remake – this is estimated to a minimum of 12 month’s work. The task is primarily an independent solo task, but based within a team for support/input and to ensure that the resulting product operates within the intended system.
A strong background in software engineering, its realisation and system wide impact.
Experience of working in C++ and QT
Collaborative, open approach to application development and have the ability to maintain momentum during development.
Experience of working across the entire software development process from engaging with requirement authorities to automated proving, supported with effective documentation
Experience of new tools, techniques and approaches that might enable us to evolve our processes to improve our efficiency and sustainability
Experience in other languages such as Ada, QT
Knowledge of DDS and multi-threaded applications.
Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C or IEC61508 and restricted coding standards such as MISRA C++
