We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Business Manager to join a well-established, independent,single-site, care home in Solihull.

This is an opportunity to take a genuinely influential role within a small organisation where decisions are made locally. Working directly with the Trustees and Registered Care Manager, you will have real scope to improve how the organisation operates and help shape its future.

The Registered Care Manager leads the delivery and quality of care. The Business Manager will take ownership of the non-care business functions, ensuring the organisation is well managed, financially sound, compliant and continually developing.

The Role

This is a broad senior management position combining operational leadership with business development. Key responsibilities will include:

Working with Trustees and the Care Manager to turn strategic objectives into practical plans and measurable actions.

Providing management information, reports and recommendations to Trustees.

Overseeing budgets, financial controls, contracts, suppliers and commercial effectiveness, working closely with the Finance & Payroll Manager.

Maintaining effective governance, risk management and compliance systems.

Ensuring policies and procedures are reviewed annually, remain current and are properly implemented.

Leading HR administration and workforce processes, including recruitment, onboarding, absence management and employment procedures.

Overseeing appropriate health & safety systems, premises requirements and contractors.

Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and organisational performance.

Taking ownership of projects and ensuring agreed actions are delivered.

Marketing & Business Development

An important part of the role will be helping the organisation develop and maintain a strong position for the future.

You will take responsibility for an annualmarketing strategy to deliver sustainable occupancy levels, raising the profile of the home within Solihull and the surrounding community, developing relationships with relevant local organisations and professionals.

About You

We are looking for an experienced manager who is comfortable taking ownership and making things happen.

You will bring broad business or operational management experience across areas such as finance, HR, governance, compliance and operations.

You will be commercially aware, highly organised and confident working with senior stakeholders or a Board/Trustees. Importantly, you will be able to move comfortably between strategic thinking and hands-on implementation.

We are looking for someone who wants to develop an organisation rather than simply maintain existing systems and who is attracted to the values and purpose of an independent, not-for-profit organisation.

Previous care-home experience is not essential. Relevant experience could come from care, healthcare, charities, education, hospices, regulated services or other sectors.
