Hays Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Bradford to recruit an experienced Business Manager on a full-time temporary basis. As a key member of the school's leadership and support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective management of finance, operations, HR, facilities, compliance and business support services. This position would suit an experienced School Business Manager who thrives in a fast-paced educational environment and is passionate about supporting school improvement.

Your New Role

As the Business Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the school's business functions and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations across multiple departments.Key responsibilities will include:

Leading and managing the school's financial procedures, budgeting and resource planning.

Monitoring expenditure and ensuring financial compliance and value for money.

Supporting strategic planning alongside senior leaders.

Managing HR administration processes, recruitment, contracts and personnel records.

Overseeing premises, health and safety, facilities management and school compliance.

Managing contracts, procurement and supplier relationships.

Supporting workforce planning and operational efficiency.

Producing management reports and presenting key business information to senior leaders.

Contributing to the continued development of school systems, policies and procedures.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have

Previous experience working as a School Business Manager, Operations Manager or similar leadership role within a school or academy setting.

Strong knowledge of school finance, budgeting and resource management.

Experience managing HR, payroll, facilities, procurement and compliance processes.

Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

The ability to build positive relationships with staff, governors, external stakeholders and suppliers.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Experience using school management and finance systems.

A proactive, resilient and solution-focused approach.

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Relevant business management, finance, leadership or school business qualifications would be advantageous.
