Business Development Manager
Location: Deeside (Head Office) with regular travel
Salary: £35,000-£40,000 DOE + Uncapped Commission
Are you an ambitious Business Development Manager with a proven track record in new business and field sales? We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity with an established business operating within the coffee, hospitality and FMCG sector.
As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving new business acquisition, building strong relationships with prospective customers and becoming a trusted partner to businesses across your territory. The role combines office-based activity with regular travel to meet prospective customers.
The Role
New Business Acquisition
Identify and target prospective customers through cold calling, networking and industry connections, working towards agreed KPIs.
Develop and execute strategic plans to acquire new business and achieve agreed sales targets.
Research prospective customers to understand their requirements and align products and services accordingly.
Generate agreed lead volumes through field visits, industry events and effective pipeline management.
Deliver engaging sales presentations and product demonstrations to prospective customers.
Relationship Building
Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers within target organisations.
Follow up consistently with prospective clients to maintain engagement and progress opportunities through the sales funnel within agreed timescales.
Act as a trusted advisor, providing tailored solutions that meet customer requirements.
Sales Strategy & Reporting
Develop and implement effective sales strategies to maximise territory coverage and achieve business objectives.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activity, leads and opportunities within the CRM system on a daily basis.
Provide regular updates to the Sales Manager regarding sales performance, forecasts and market insights.
Work collaboratively with the marketing team to support lead generation campaigns and promotions.
Market & Competitor Analysis
Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and potential challenges.
Keep up to date with industry developments to maintain a competitive edge.
Collaboration
Work closely with the Sales Support Coordinator to ensure smooth onboarding of new customers and effective handovers to Account Managers within agreed SLAs.
Collaborate with internal teams, including logistics and technical support, to ensure customer requirements are met and a high-quality service is consistently delivered.
Travel & Representation
Spend an agreed proportion of your time on the road meeting prospective customers at their premises.
Represent the business at trade shows, exhibitions and networking events to build brand awareness and generate new opportunities.
Training & Development
Continually develop your knowledge of the products and services offered.
Stay informed about new products, market trends and wider industry developments.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills relevant to the role and your desired career development.
Attend and actively engage in all training sessions provided.
Proven ability to identify and close new business opportunities, with a strong track record in sales.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Exceptional negotiation and influencing abilities.
Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple leads and opportunities effectively.
Tech-savvy with experience using CRM systems.
Willingness to travel extensively to meet clients and attend industry events.
Demonstrated success in a Business Development Manager or field sales role.
Experience within the coffee, hospitality or FMCG industries would be advantageous.
Strong understanding of B2B sales processes and techniques.
Knowledge of coffee products and machinery is advantageous but not essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
