Through our print and digital publications, industry awards, networking events, Women in Construction initiatives and growing business communities, we connect thousands of construction professionals, contractors, suppliers, developers and decision-makers across the UK.
As the business continues to grow, we are looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to help drive advertising, sponsorship and event sales across our portfolio.
The Role
This is a relationship-led sales role focused on building long-term partnerships within the construction and built environment sectors.
You'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, generating new business, managing existing accounts and helping clients maximise their exposure through our publications, events and industry platforms.
No two days are the same. One day you may be speaking with a national contractor about a magazine campaign, the next you could be securing sponsorship for one of our awards programmes or helping a supplier showcase their business through our events and media channels.
Key Responsibilities
• Selling advertising opportunities across Design & Build UK print and digital platforms.
• Selling sponsorship packages for awards ceremonies, networking events and industry initiatives.
• Managing and growing an existing portfolio of clients.
• Generating new business through outbound calls, email outreach, LinkedIn and networking.
• Building relationships with directors, business owners and senior decision-makers.
• Working closely with the editorial and events teams to deliver successful campaigns.
• Following up enquiries and identifying new commercial opportunities.
• Maintaining accurate records within our CRM system.
• Achieving and exceeding monthly sales targets.
• Attending industry events and representing the business professionally.

• Commercially minded with strong negotiation skills.
• Able to manage multiple opportunities and follow-up activity.
• Experience in sales, business development, advertising sales, media sales, sponsorship sales or recruitment sales would be advantageous.
• Construction industry knowledge is beneficial but not essential.

The successful candidate will build a portfolio of loyal clients who return year after year across multiple products and services.
This is not a transactional sales role. We are looking for someone who can become a trusted partner to clients and identify opportunities across our magazines, digital campaigns, awards, events and professional communities.
