The Opportunity
An ambitious Top 40 accountancy and business advisory group is looking to appoint an experienced Audit Manager as it continues to grow its audit offering.
This is a genuine management role combining audit delivery, client relationships, team leadership and commercial involvement.
You'll work closely with Directors to plan and deliver audits across a varied client base, including owner-managed businesses, while becoming a trusted adviser to your clients and playing an important role in developing the next generation of auditors.
For an existing Audit Manager or an Assistant Manager ready to step up, this offers the opportunity to take on greater ownership within a progressive and rapidly growing firm.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for managing audit assignments from planning through to completion, including:
Managing a portfolio of audit clients
Planning and delivering audits from start to finish
Managing audit teams and ensuring assignments are delivered effectively
Reviewing audit files and ensuring work meets the required technical standards
Identifying key audit risks and ensuring these are appropriately addressed
Working closely with Directors on more complex assignments
Building strong, long-term relationships with clients
Becoming a key point of contact and trusted adviser
Developing a detailed understanding of clients' businesses
Identifying opportunities to provide additional advice and services
Managing budgets, deadlines and resources across assignments
Coaching and developing Audit Seniors and Trainees
Providing regular feedback and supporting the progression of junior team members
Contributing to the continued development and growth of the Audit team
This is an opportunity to move beyond simply managing the audit process and become increasingly involved in clients, people and the commercial development of the department.
The Candidate
ACA or ACCA qualification
Experience operating as an Audit Manager or experienced Assistant Manager
Strong experience within a UK accountancy practice
Experience managing audits from planning through to completion
Exposure to a varied client portfolio, including owner-managed businesses
Strong technical audit and accounting knowledge
Experience managing, coaching and developing audit teams
Confidence dealing directly with senior client stakeholders
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Strong organisation and project-management skills
A commercial and proactive approach
Knowledge of CCH would be advantageous but isn't essential
Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys leading people and building client relationships, rather than simply managing audit files.
What's On Offer
Performance-related bonus
Flexible hybrid working
Generous holiday allowance
Tailored learning and development
Company pension
Health MOTs
Mental health and wellbeing support
Regular social and community events
Continued technical and leadership development
Opportunity to work closely with Directors
Genuine progression towards Senior Manager and Director
