Assistant Management Accountant

Overview Based in North Birmingham, this is a great opportunity to join a small finance team within a well-established retail business that operates across a number of sites nationally. The business has a steady track record of growth and has built a close-knit working environment where people tend to know each other well and work collaboratively.

At Assistant Management Accountant level, you'll be supporting the day-to-day running of the accounts while developing your management accounting experience. Your month-end involvement will include assisting with management accounts, posting journals, completing reconciliations and helping to review P&L performance. You'll also support the wider team with budgets, forecasts and variance analysis, giving you exposure to how the finance function supports the different areas of the business.

What makes this role particularly suited to someone early in their management accounting career is the balance between responsibility and support. You'll have plenty to get involved with, but won't be expected to walk in and take complete ownership of the numbers immediately. Working alongside a small finance team means you'll be able to ask questions, learn the business properly and gradually build towards taking on more complex management accounting responsibilities. Skills Needed

Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally with some exposure to month-end or management accounts.

AAT qualified, studying towards ACCA/CIMA or looking to continue with professional development.

Good Excel skills with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail.

A reliable and team-focused approach, with the confidence to ask questions and learn.
