Assistant Management Accountant

Some finance jobs give you one tiny piece of the puzzle, this isn't one of them.

This is a temporary opportunity for someone who enjoys getting stuck into the day-to-day running of a finance function. Yes, there'll be invoices, reconciliations and payroll. But you'll also get involved in month-end, management accounts, reporting and plenty of the work that sits behind good financial decision-making.

It's one of those roles that looks fairly straightforward on paper, but the reality is you'll become a key part of keeping everything moving.

You'll be working alongside an experienced Finance Director and a supportive finance team, giving you exposure to the full finance cycle rather than being boxed into one area.

What you'll be doing

Processing purchase invoices, matching purchase orders and managing supplier payments

Looking after purchase and sales ledger reconciliations, resolving queries and keeping aged balances under control

Processing weekly and monthly payroll while dealing with employee queries accurately and confidentially

Supporting month-end with journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations

Assisting with management accounts, reporting packs and KPI reporting

Helping with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting and variance analysis

Maintaining the fixed asset register

Supporting year-end activities, audit requests and other finance projects

Producing ad hoc analysis and helping improve existing finance processes

Making sure financial records remain accurate and up to date

What do you need?

AAT qualification, be studying CIMA, ACCA or ACA, or be qualified through experience

Experience within a finance or accounts environment, with some exposure to management accounts

Good Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables and handling data comfortably)

Payroll experience would be helpful, but it's certainly not essential

A methodical approach and good attention to detail

The confidence to communicate with people across the business

A willingness to learn and get involved wherever needed
