Our client is recruiting for a proactive Assistant Finance Manager to join their business based in Coventry. The role is paying £40k per annum and requires 2 days on-site per week. Previous experience in SME environments and mentoring junior members of staff are essential.
Assist in preparing and maintaining the month-end timetable to ensure all deadlines are consistently met for accurate financial reporting.
Prepare management accounts with detailed reconciliations and supporting schedules that underpin robust financial control.
Review and assist with bank reconciliations as well as nominal ledger maintenance to uphold the integrity of financial records.
Complete VAT returns, fixed asset accounting tasks, and general ledger checks to ensure compliance and accuracy across all finance processes.
Support payroll processing activities alongside HMRC reporting and pension submissions for seamless employee remuneration.
Contribute actively to year-end statutory accounts preparation while liaising with external auditors for smooth audit processes.
Provide cover for finance operations tasks such as loan postings, payments, and refunds whenever required to maintain business continuity.
Contribute to KPI reporting, covenant tracking, and stakeholder communications that inform strategic decision-making within the organisation.
Work collaboratively on budgeting and periodic re-forecasting efforts with budget holders to monitor expenditure and support cash flow forecasting.
You are part-qualified accountant, or Qualified By Experience bringing recognised credentials that demonstrate your commitment to professional standards.
You have proven experience working within a finance function-ideally within a small or growing organisation-enabling you to adapt quickly to evolving priorities.
Your analytical skills are highly developed with meticulous attention to detail that supports accurate reporting and insightful analysis.
You possess excellent communication abilities that foster strong engagement with stakeholders across all levels of the business.
You can manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting tight deadlines thanks to your dependable organisational skills.
Previous supervisory or team support experience is desirable; your ability to nurture junior colleagues enhances collaborative success within the finance team.
Strong knowledge of Excel and financial systems is advantageous; your technical proficiency streamlines complex data handling tasks.
