A leading sports agency is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join its growing finance team. This role is 3 days per week in the office. This is a newly created role reporting into the Financial Controller in a team of 5.
The role
You'll work closely with the Financial Controller and Management Accountant across areas including:
Supporting the month-end close, including journals, accruals and prepayments
Daily bank postings and bank reconciliations
Supporting cash management and monitoring the cash position
Preparing and supporting quarterly VAT returns, alongside monthly VAT reviews
Balance sheet reconciliations
Intercompany reconciliations
Supporting overseas entity accounting and uploading trial balances into SAP
Assisting with actual vs budget analysis
Supporting European entity accounting and compliance
Preparing schedules and reconciliations for the year-end audit
Taking increasing ownership of areas of responsibility as your experience develops
About you We're looking for someone with around 1-2 years' finance experience:
AAT, bookkeeping and/or ACCA studies underway, or a desire to progress with a professional qualification
A good practical understanding of VAT returns - essential
Month-end experience, particularly journals, accruals and prepayments
Experience with bank reconciliations
Good Excel skills, including lookups, spreadsheets and ideally pivot tables
Experience using an accounting system/ERP; SAP experience would be advantageous
A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to work independently
Experience within football, sport, media, advertising, talent management or an agency environment would be particularly attractive. Why this role? You'll work as part of a small, collaborative finance team and gain exposure to a much broader range of accounting activities, rather than being limited to AP or transactional processing.
