Assistant Accountant £35,000 - £40,000 | North Liverpool | Hybrid

A growing, multi-entity SME in the North West is looking to appoint a hands-on Assistant Accountant to join its expanding finance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership and wants to play a key role in keeping a finance function running smoothly within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The Role You'll take responsibility for day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, control, and a smooth month-end process. This is a varied position offering strong exposure and the chance to contribute to process improvements.

Key responsibilities include

Ownership of purchase and sales ledger processes

Bank postings and reconciliations

Preparing payment runs

Maintaining accurate and well-organised ledgers

Posting journals (accruals, prepayments, payroll)

Supporting month-end close

Managing intercompany balances and reconciliations

Bookkeeping for smaller group entities

Supporting system and process improvements

About You

Experience in an Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant / Bookkeeping role

Comfortable working in an SME or multi-entity environment

Strong Excel skills and good systems knowledge

Experience with cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero or Sage) is beneficial

Highly organised, proactive, and detail-focused

Comfortable managing routine, high-volume workloads with accuracy
