Accounts Payable Manager

Accounts Payable Manager Location: Dudley, West Midlands Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum Working Pattern: Full-time, 5 days per week office-based

The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to join a well-established and growing business based in Dudley. This role offers the chance to lead a high-performing purchase ledger function while playing a key role in driving process improvements, systems enhancements and automation initiatives across the finance department.

Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payments whilst helping shape the future direction of the function. Key Responsibilities

Manage, mentor and develop a team of 3 Accounts Payable professionals.

Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance.

Drive continuous improvement across AP processes, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention.

Support finance transformation projects, including the implementation of automation tools and system enhancements.

Maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve escalated queries effectively.

Ensure payment runs are completed accurately and in line with agreed terms.

Monitor key performance indicators and produce reporting for senior stakeholders.

Work closely with the wider finance team to support month-end activities and process improvements.

Review and strengthen financial controls within the purchase ledger function.

About You The successful candidate will have:

Previous experience managing an Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger team.

Strong knowledge of end-to-end accounts payable processes.

Experience of driving process improvements, systems implementations or automation projects.

Excellent people management and stakeholder engagement skills.

A proactive and solutions-focused approach.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and priorities effectively.

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP or finance systems.
