Accounts Assistant
Location: Bath
Job Type: Part-time (22.5 hours per week)
Salary: £30,000 p.a. pro rata
We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our family run business. This role is crucial in supporting the Financial Controller with a range of financial tasks including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities and general financial administration. This position is ideal for someone who is organised, reliable, and proactive, and thrives in a small, dynamic team environment.
Accounts Payable (AP): Process supplier invoices with accurate coding and approval, maintain the AP ledger, ensure timely payment runs, and reconcile supplier statements.
Accounts Receivable (AR): Assist in checking and approving tenant invoices, be the first point of contact for credit control, maintain the AR ledger, and update tenant accounts.
Banking & Reconciliation: Perform daily bank reconciliations, post financial entries, and manage tenant deposit accounts.
Service Charge & Property Management Support: Assist in the reconciliations of service charge budgets, maintain property-related financial records, and liaise with property managers, suppliers, and tenants regarding finance-related queries.
Month-End & Reporting: Prepare control account reconciliations, assist with month-end processes, and prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
General Finance Administration: Maintain digital filing systems, assist with finance-related tasks and projects, and support the Financial Controller with additional duties.
General Office Tasks: Assist with general office administration including managing staff refreshments, handling post, and answering calls.
Experience in an Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant role.
Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable processes.
Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience in property management or real estate finance.
Knowledge of service charge accounting.
Familiarity with property management or accounting software (e.g., Xero, ApprovalMax, Re-Leased).
Proactive and organised, comfortable with varied tasks.
Reliable and trustworthy with strong ownership of duties.
Inquisitive nature, actively seeking improvement opportunities.
Collaborative with a “can-do” attitude.
