Accounts Analyst

Hays are delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation in the recruitment of an Accounts Analyst to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to further develop their accounting and analytical skills within a supportive and collaborative environment. The hours of work are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and the business operates a hybrid working model, allowing employees to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, whilst offering exposure to a broad range of accounting and reporting activities. The offices are based in Port Glasgow and can be accessed by public transport & there is also on-site parking.

Your new role

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting month-end processes and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. Working closely with colleagues across the wider finance function, your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and posting recurring and standard journal entries

Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances

Supporting accruals postings and journal reclassifications

Performing data validation checks across financial systems and reporting tools

Assisting with month-end close activities and finance reporting packs

Supporting the preparation and maintenance of close documentation

Working collaboratively with colleagues across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger teams

Resolving financial discrepancies and open accounting items

Contributing to process improvements and enhancing data accuracy across the finance function

Supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting information

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience within a finance, accounting or analytical role and be keen to further develop your accounting knowledge and technical skills. This role may also suit an Accountancy graduate. You will also possess:

Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems

A sound understanding of accounting principles and financial controls

Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills

High levels of accuracy and attention to detail

A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving

Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

A collaborative mindset with a willingness to work across multiple teams

Curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and develop professionally
