Our client is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join their growing team. This role involves ensuring accurate financial management and full compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within the construction industry and possess strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly management accounts for two companies
Prepare year-end statutory accounts for two companies and liaise with external auditors
Complete and submit monthly and quarterly VAT returns to HMRC for three companies
Process monthly CIS submissions to HMRC
Carry out bookkeeping duties as required, including purchase and sales invoice processing
Prepare sales and rental invoices
Process weekly CIS payments for operatives when required
Manage monthly payroll submissions to HMRC, including PAYE, NIC, and CIS payments
Raise purchase orders, obtain pricing, and source products when requested
Supervise and support the Accounts Assistant
Manage purchase ledger, expense claims, and petty cash payments
Handle ad hoc administrative tasks as required
Maintain accurate records of rental income and expenditure
Use the Evolution M accounting system effectively
Attend monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) meetings
Monitor and manage plant repair and maintenance schedules
Liaise with third-party IT and telecom support providers regarding system, telephone, or internet issues
Support the Managing Director, Project Manager, and Quantity Surveyor with additional tasks as required
Requirements
Proven experience working as an Accountant within the construction industry
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
Good knowledge of VAT regulations, including Reverse VAT procedures
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong organisational and time management abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
