Accountant - AAT Qualified

Salary: £35,000 Location: Wirral Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, On-site

An established and expanding accountancy practice is looking to recruit an experienced AAT Qualified Accountant to join their team. This is a varied role within a growing firm, offering the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of clients while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment. The position would suit someone who can work independently, deliver high-quality work, and build strong client relationships.

What You'll Be Doing

Producing statutory accounts from initial figures through to completion for a varied client portfolio

Handling VAT compliance processes, including preparation and submission of returns

Delivering regular financial reporting and management information where required by clients

Supporting the completion of corporation tax filings and personal tax obligations

Providing oversight and feedback on work carried out by less experienced team members

Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a reliable point of contact for day-to-day queries

Attending meetings with clients as needed to discuss financial matters

What We're Looking For

Professionally qualified (AAT or equivalent) with a solid background in an accountancy practice environment

Proven track record of preparing accounts through to completion with minimal supervision

Good understanding of core compliance areas, including VAT and general taxation matters

Experience working closely with clients, with the confidence to handle queries and explain financial information clearly

Previous involvement in checking or supporting the work of junior colleagues

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines

Familiarity with modern accounting systems and digital tools (such as cloud-based platforms)

Full UK driving licence and flexibility to attend meetings off-site when required
