Location: Leeds (Office Based with Regular Customer Visits) Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum + Performance Bonus + Benefits Type: Fulltime - Permanent
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established and growing business that supplies products and solutions to trade customers across the UK. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Account Manager to manage, develop and expand an existing portfolio of customer accounts. This is a highly visible role where you will build long-term relationships, identify growth opportunities and become a trusted point of contact for customers. Combining office-based account management with regular client visits, you will play a key role in driving revenue growth, increasing customer engagement and delivering an exceptional customer experience. Ideally from Engineering or Fire and Security sector.
The Role
As an Account Manager, you will manage a diverse portfolio of trade customers, maintaining regular contact through telephone, email and face-to-face meetings. You will take ownership of account development, identifying opportunities to increase spend, reactivate dormant customers and introduce additional products and services. You'll work closely with internal teams to ensure customers receive excellent support while driving commercial success across your account base. Based on information from
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Business Growth
Manage and develop an established portfolio of customer accounts.
Build strong, long-term relationships with key contacts.
Identify opportunities to increase revenue and account penetration.
Introduce customers to additional products and services.
Monitor account performance and proactively address declining activity.
Reactivate dormant and underperforming accounts.
Generate new business opportunities alongside existing account management responsibilities.
Follow up quotations, enquiries and sales opportunities through to completion.
Deliver against sales, margin and account growth targets.
Customer Engagement
Conduct regular customer meetings across the UK.
Develop a thorough understanding of customer requirements and business objectives.
Create and implement account development plans.
Identify and convert opportunities arising from customer visits.
Attend industry events, exhibitions and networking opportunities where appropriate.
Commercial Support
Provide advice and support relating to products, pricing and quotations.
Ensure customer enquiries and issues are resolved efficiently.
Collaborate with internal departments to deliver effective solutions.
Gather customer and market intelligence to identify future opportunities.
Collaboration & CRM Management
Work closely with sales, customer service, operations, technical and marketing teams.
Maintain accurate customer records and activity within the CRM system.
Ensure all customer commitments and opportunities are progressed effectively.
Contribute positively to the continued growth and success of the wider business.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be a proactive and commercially aware relationship builder who thrives on developing accounts and delivering results.
Essential Skills & Experience
Previous experience in Account Management, Business Development or B2B Sales.
Proven success in developing and growing existing customer accounts.
Experience managing multiple customer relationships simultaneously.
Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
Commercial acumen with confidence discussing pricing, margins and business opportunities.
Excellent organisation and follow-up skills.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to customer engagement.
Full UK driving licence.
