Job Description
At Brunning & Price, we run characterful pubs in beautiful locations, serving great food and creating welcoming spaces for our guests. Behind every smooth service and successful team is thoughtful organisation — and increasingly, the right technology to support it.
We’re looking for a talented and practical Mobile Developer to join us on a 1-year fixed-term contract, with the potential to move into a permanent role as our digital capability continues to grow.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week) with hybrid working available after initially being full-time at the Chester Office.
This isn’t about building a product for market—it's about creating reliable, well-designed internal tools that genuinely make life easier for our pub teams and head office colleagues.
The Role
As our Mobile Developer, you’ll play a key role in developing and enhancing a suite of internal mobile applications that support daily operations, communication, and efficiency across the business.
You’ll contribute to architectural decisions while taking ownership of feature development, testing, and continuous improvement. Your work will have direct and visible impact across our pubs.
What you'll be doing
Contributing to architectural design and technology decisions for internal mobile apps
Designing and developing core features and modules
Working closely with operational stakeholders to understand business needs
Translating requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions
Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
Using AI-assisted development tools effectively as part of your workflow
Participating in code reviews and maintaining strong development standards
Continuously improving performance, security, usability, and reliability
About you
You’ll likely have
A degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
3+ years’ experience in native Android or iOS development
Strong proficiency in Kotlin/Java or Swift/Objective-C
Demonstrable experience using AI-assisted programming tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT or similar)
Experience building secure, reliable business or operational applications
A solid understanding of mobile networking, data persistence, UI rendering, and performance optimisation
Benefits
Private Medical Insurance (BUPA)
Life Assurance (4x salary)
Virtual GP & health support (Aviva Digicare+)
25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
Pension (salary sacrifice, company matches up to 5%)
